What Does a Chiropractic Neurologist do?

As a diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board Dr. Hanson D.C. D.A.C.N.B. has extensive postgraduate study and a degree in clinical neuroscience and neurology. In medicine, one can become a general practitioner and get further education to become a specialist in Medical Neurology, Orthopedics, Radiology, and Surgery, etc. In Chiropractic there are postgraduate degrees in the field of neurology. With the post graduate degree in functional neurology through the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies we learn how to perform a functional neurological exam that may be similar to a medical neurologist exam however we do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery. We use this knowledge and work to develop natural treatment plans that are appropriate to the individuality of the patient and his or her nervous system. We use very specific therapies and Chiropractic techniques as well as the use of other functional neurology modalities with the goal of restoring balance to the nervous system and musculoskeletal system.
